Asian markets have a weak day

The Asian markets ended on a weak note. The Hang Seng dropped 171 points (0.8%) to 21,175 and Nikkei shed 21 points (0.2%) at 10,142. Jan cement sales in high double-digit The Shanghai Composite slipped 65 points (2%) to 3,113 and the Straits Times shed 8 points (0.3%) at 2,804. The Seoul Composite and Taiwan Weighted closed flat. ______________________________________________ (Updated at 1129 am) Asian markets continue to trade weak, albeit off the day"s lows. The Hang Seng has dropped 162 points (0.7%) to 21,185 and the Nikkei has shed 12 points (0.1%) at 10,151. The Shanghai Composite has slipped 36 points (1.1%) to 3,142. The Straits Times is down 23 points (0.8%) at 2,789. The Seoul Composite and the Taiwan Weighted are trading flat. _____________________________________________ (Updated at 0821 am) Asian markets have opened weak this morning following cues from US indices. The Hang Seng has dropped 194 points (1%) to 21,154. The Nikkei has shed 104 points (1%) at 10,060. The Shanghai Composite has slipped 45 points (1.5%) to 3,134. The Straits Times is down 20 points (0.70%) at 2,793. The Seoul Composite and the Taiwan Weighted are trading flat.
